I never said that! I was just answering the centralized image
repository proposition and how the descritption text for this
architecture should be done. Another participant state that he was
unable to understand the copyright notice of an image coming from the
korean wikipedia and that a centralized repository might solve this.
That's why I said that even if a centralized db is used for images,
the copyright notice may not be written in english and will not solved
the problem (execpt if you expect people to write the notice in
english). Morevover if the description of the image should contain the
copyright in all langue + description it will be very unpratical.
When we get such a system set up it will be localized, as the wiki
interface is, to be read in any language. The base copyright
information is a multiple-choice question:
[ ] GFDL, submitted by copyright owner
[ ] GFDL, submitted by third party
[ ] public domain
[ ] other -- needs to be examined very carefully, may not be
appropriate!
source URL or citation: [_____________________]
description: [_____________________]
The description is going to be only in whatever language(s) people
write in, but the multiple-choice bits will be translated at the
interface. If you visit the site in Korean you'll see "GFDL, submitted
by copyright owner" in Korean. If someone else visits it in French,
they'll see it in French.
