I wasn't clear, but my comment after Magnus' proposal was one of approbation.
Since *.wml is no good for the reasons given, I support *.wiki.
Umm, what's wrong with ".txt"? Since there isn't really a formalized
markup language yet, I think it would be confusing and likely cause
problems to use a file extension to imply that there is. At some point
in the future, I certainly do plan to formalize and complete a wikipedia
markup language, and it will likely resemble the current one closely--
but it won't be identical.
