So long as a boilerplate stating what both you and I said is at the top of 
each main policy page listed under the heading "Generally accepted policies" 
at http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Policies_and_guidelines (not rules 
to consider) AND so long as we can get at least several old hands to watch 
each of these pages then this should work. We can alway re-protect later if 
need be.  

I just don't have time to formulate a finalized boilerplate and apply it 
myself. But you are more than welcome to do so without further protest from 
me. List consensus on this should first be obtained though.
