Yes, thats exactly right.

Heres how Gaz's Perfect Wiki would work...

[[work]]ing shows _working_, links to [[work]]
[[work|working]] shows _working_, links to [[work]] (backwards compatible)
[[work|]]ing shows _work_ing, links to [[work]]]
      ^
      |-- Any uncommon ASCII character will do.  `|' seems reasonable since it
          already has a special meaning, but one that makes no little or no
          sense in this context
