This appeared to have been true, and Ive done my best
to inject some life into it. ( WP:ITAAW )
There is currently some debate over the article's size
-- Im now wondering if there was some naive assumption
on the part of the writer that there would be a side
by side of similar sized versions.
Here's a quick update on the process so far:
- Folks not familiar with Esquire magazine tend to write in the
wooden, straight encyclopedia style we're all used to. Much of the
resulting effort has been to reinject life and punch into the article.
- There has been back and forth as to what articles we use as
exemplars: whimsical, serious, current events, etc.
- Jimbo chimed in on the parts about his financial freedom, interest
in constitutional law and Ayn Rand. He said how "ludicrous" those
comments were. Good thing the part about gun politics was taken out
before he saw _that_. :)
- Too elaborate. Details about administrators, featured articles,
vandal fighting techniques, Nupedia operations, etc. keep creeping in.
This article is for a lifestyle magazine, not Linux Journal.
- We should probably keep the article close to the original 709 word
count. I would say no longer than 900 words. It has regularly climbed
to above 1200, requiring major cutbacks.
