If something was misrepresented, it was by accident. Perhaps you would
find it more productive to educate people in their errors, rather than
to simply accuse them of being malicious.
By the way, playing the "victim card" tends to reduce sympathy in one's
position rather than increase it, at least among people whose sympathy
is worth anything.
