Welcome.  The three decades of journalistic experience should give you 
the thick skin needed for copng with hostile edits.  You probably know 
the hot-button items that are best avoided.  Genealogy tends to be a 
discouraged pursuit, since it tends to produce lists of people that are 
of interest only to limited audiences. but general contributions about 
how it's done are worthwhile.  There is much in what you say that can 
produce valuable articles, so as a final piece of advice I would say, 
"Just pitch in, and do it."
