You raised the argument that by having content that they'd like to
filter, but by being the sort of site that it would be embarassing to
filter, we make things more difficult for those who would want to
filter.
After a lot of thought, I don't think that's right. If Wikipedia
contains content that should be filtered, then the proponents of
filtering can use us as an example of why filters are a Good Thing.
That's why we care, right? We don't want to be used as an example of
why filters are a Good Thing.
Therefore, it seems to me, it's important that we act responsibly.
