If enabled in LocalSettings.php

$wgAllowExternalImages = true;

on this project there is an image here, otherwise just a link to an
image: http://en.wikipedia.org/upload/b/bc/Wiki.png

I.e. just put the URL for the image in the page itself and if
$wgAllowExternalImages is true, it will be displayed inline.
