This is an interesting point you are making and a bold statement considering this was a very popular topic at this years WikiMania. In every session i sat in the WYSIWYG was brought up and seemed to be something needed/wanted. I even remember Jimmy refering to it, and it seemed to be a concern of his. I also understand that these were his personal views and may mean nothing to you "all" on the development team. I guess I would expect a more positive attitude given the popularity of the topic.
