You might want to start with looking up the documentation for the AuthPlugin module of MediaWiki. I used it to integrate MediaWiki with vBulletin. It wasn't too hard except I encountered some unexpected behavior in MediaWiki's SpecialUserlogin.php and had to make a one-line hack to get the integration working. AuthPlugin is convenient, but I hope to see more features in future versions.

MediaZilla (http://bugzilla.wikipedia.org/) is a nice version of Bugzilla spliced into wikipedia
format. Where can I find out how this was implemented. I currently have a MediaWiki 1.4.4 system
used by an engineering group that is starting to use Bugzilla 2.18. I'd love to integrate the two
products. I've also seen phpBB integrated into a mediawiki. I'm also using that.
