I don't know about /replacing/ it, but if we used that new metadata to
improve it that would be +good.

Right now, it uses a number of ugly heuristics to guess at much of the
information that would be much improved with proper metadata.

That said, getting the list of /maintainers/ (rather than authors) from
LDAP in an automated way should not be eleminated.
