You're forgetting the Wiki model, which is rightly applicable here. 
Don't implement social strictures with technology, just beat up the 
people who don't follow the rules (and revert their boo boo)

I.e.: checking against spam is a bad cost for authenticated users. Tell 
the users "no spam" instead.
