Hi Jay and Steven and all of you , I just wanted to tell you that we are all
set to celebrate the event and today we will celebrate the event Kite
festival and the Signature Campaign. We got the banners and the Signature
sheet . We had limited fund so we only have two banners ( 6x3 and 3x6 feet )
and a Signature cloth (6x6 feet). We are having about 50 kites and about 90
stickers to stick everywhere people are going to bring their own kites and
then if they want some more they can ask for that. Fever is getting higher.
You all will soon have the snaps of the first event. We also planed to
celebrate b'day @ 00:00 HRS at our favourite restaurant by having a b'day
cake. Well check the page and give me feedback .

According to the event page, the activity in Beijing & Harbin is done.
In Beijing, it is a online event which run on skype. After the events, some
people shared that they think Wikipedia is useful and can find a lot of
information, see
http://ten.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Beijing/zh-hans&uselang=zh-hans
In Harbin, it is a meeting which held in a university. 14 people joined it. It
held yesterday night 6:00 - 8:30 (UTC+8). Them talk about some question and
problem on Wikipedia. The people joined mainly is the student of the university.
More event in China will be held. I am going to give another update on next
week.

Hi, I need some help. In some interviews I had, the media questioned me
about local statistics in the use of Wikimedia projects.
Where I can found this information from the usage of my country (Mexico)?
Thank you so much.
Hi everyone...
I was going to make this myself but I've run out of time, and I hope
someone can do it. (But let's coordinate and make sure we don't have
wasted duplicate effort!)
For the celebration tomorrow, we are going to have a slide projector
showing slides... what I'd like to have is screen shots from 20 (or 50!)
languages of Wikipedia, the front page, one fading into the next...
I wonder as well if anyone knows if any of the other celebrations or
past events have slide shows that could be running quietly in the
background.

It is only 4 days left to 15 January, which is Wikipedia birthday.
Some language translation on meta is ready or proofreading. Since we should let
the editor and reader know about that, I think we shall put up the central
notice as soon as possible and it should be down on the end of January since
http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:January_2011 list that except 23 January,
the wikipedian still have activity so I suggest the notice should be up on
today, 11-1-2010 and down on 31-1-2010 or longer.
Thank you.

On the 15th of January, I would like to make myself available for a
short video conference with as many local celebrations as want me to
join in some way. Big or small. If it's 3 people in a coffee shop in
Tajikistan, I'd love to say hi. If it's 100 people at a party or
conference, I'd love to say hi.
From a logistics point of view, the easiest thing for everyone is
probably Skype, but if anyone wants to suggest a free software
alternative, I'm happy with that as well.
I will be in London with decent but not super awesome connection speed.
Time zone doesn't really matter, I can get up in the middle of the
night and go back to bed afterwards. :)
In terms of process, I would propose that we start a page on the ten
wiki where local organizers can post requests, and then Topher and I
will study it and contact people for more details.

Hey,
I would like to suggest to set:
'wgForceUIMsgAsContentMsg' => array(
'tenwiki' => array(
'mainpage',
'organize-url',
'share-url',
'design-url',
'ideas-url',
'faq-url',
),
),
This configuration (the same as on Wikimedia Commons) will allow to
see registered users the Main Page and pages from sidebar in language
from preferences.
Any objections?

So... now we have this banner in the Netherlands asking people to
participate in the celebrations. But the only event in the Netherlands
(Amsterdam) is fully booked with 200 people already.
What do you think? Should we pull down the banner, change the text (what
would be good options?) Is there a way in general for people to participate
online? (is there an overview of available video streams?) Is there a page
where people can leave their congratulations?
Best,
Lodewijk
Hey folks,
I just want to congratulate everyone on the 10th! I've been in New York
doing media interviews, and the journalists are being really (and
uncharacteristically) complimentary- --- about Wikipedia itself, and also
about the 10th celebrations. I think everyone's doing an amazing job, and
it's really exciting to see all of everybody's work bearing fruit.
Makes me proud to know you all, and to be a part of this thing we're
building together :-)
Thanks,
Sue
