Volker, any progress on the getting MediaWiki to
run on Oracle?
there's an RFE for it here:
http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652 but as far as i know,
no-one's working on actual support.
At the moment there's not even anyone maintaining our PostgreSQL
support, which as free software is more accessible to users and
developers. Oracle isn't even on our radar, so to speak. :)
If somebody really needs/wants Oracle support, your best bet is probably
to do one of:
* Code it yourself and provide patches
* Hire someone to work on it and provide patches
Probably somebody here would be able and willing to pick up a commission
to do this, if offered.
It's probably not _that_ hard, mainly a matter of adapting the table
definitions and writing a new Database wrapper class using the
appropriate functions. There are likely some remaining MySQLisms in the
code (particularly since the PostgreSQL backend hasn't been updated in
some time) that need to be corrected as well.
