Hi All,
A reminder that TechCom is hosting an IRC meeting today Wednesday
November 21st 11pm PST(November 22nd 07:00 UTC, 08:00 CET) in
#wikimedia-office on RFC: Introduce a new namespace for collaborative
judgments about wiki entities
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T200297>
The proposal is to create two new namespaces, Judgment and
Judgment_talk (exact names to be decided at T200365). In the content
namespace, pages will be a JSON description of judgments about wiki
entities such as a particular edit. For example,
w:en:Judgment:Diff/123457 would have judgments about whether
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/?diff=123457 is a damaging or good-faith
edit, and its talk page the dialogue leading to this consensus.
If you haven't joined a #wikimedia-office meeting before more
information can be found here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC_office_hours#How_to_participate>
More information regarding the TechCom RFC process is available here
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Technical_Committee/Processes#RFC_…>
Thanks,
-Kate

Hi all,
I've installed a new 1.31 and imported content from an xml dump using
importDump.php which included file descriptions, then imported the
images from a directory of files using importImages.php.
About half of the files have imported successfully, but the other half
say the image is not found when I go to the image page in the wiki. i
can see the image in the proper place in the upload directory so it has
imported properly.
If I try and re-upload the image manually I can't because it says an
exact replica already exists, but click on that link to the already
existing one still says "No file by this name exists, but you can upload
it".
I've tried running all the related maintenance scripts such as
rebuildImages.php with no success :-(
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Aran
Reminder: Technical Advice IRC meeting again **Wednesday 4-5 pm UTC** on

If you know already what you would like to discuss or ask, please add your

Subject: [Cloud] [Cloud-announce] Brief service interruption next Monday
2018-11-19 at 13:00 UTC
To: <Cloud-announce(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Next monday 2018-11-19 we will be rebooting several Cloud VPS
infrastructure servers [0] for maintenance and security updates.
This is just a simple reboot of servers and we don't expect any outage
or major interruptions, but some services may be down briefly:
* Horizon and Wikitech may misbehave
* instance creation/deletion/shutdown, etc
* CI tests may stop running
Apologies in advance for any inconvenience, and please let us know any
issue you may find after these operations.

Hi,
We now have a tentative date and location for EMWCon Spring 2019, or the
Enterprise MediaWiki Conference: per the subject line, the plan is to have
it on Wednesday to Friday, April 3-5, 2019, in San Francisco, California -
or, more precisely, in neighboring Daly City, CA, at the Genesys
headquarters. There's no registration for it yet, or even a page at all; I
just wanted to let people know already, and also to make sure that there
are no major conflicts with the date. If anyone would like to attend but
can't make it for those specific dates, please let me know. (The location
of Daly City is more locked in.)
-Yaron

Hello,
I am holding deployment of 1.33.0-wmf.4 to the Wikimedia infrastructure.
Some code path attempts to retrieve a memcached entry using an empty
string as a key. It is most probably going to cause major issues if we
keep pushing the train.
The task is:
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T209429
memcached error: A BAD KEY WAS PROVIDED/CHARACTERS OUT OF RANGE
It originates from MemcachedPeclBagOStuff::checkResult() which logs an
error albeit without any context. Probably adding an exception context
would give us a stacktrace and thus find the faulting code.
