Indeed they are. In the November 13, 1950 issue of Life magazine, pages
130-136, 138, 141, in the article "This Was the Perilous Trek to Tragedy" by
Frank Bessac, the story is told of a criminal sentence handed down in Tibet
in 1950 which called for amputation of the perpetrator's "noses and ears"
which was reduced to a public flogging of 200 lashes which sentence was
carried out in Lhasa. The cover of Life pictures the flogging.

I've just reverted over 200 edits on the toki pona Wikipedia. Someone
apparently feels the language is copyrighted so decided to replace
every page, including user pages and the main page, with a copyright
violation notice, presumably with the use of a bot. I've reverted
these, although unfortunately the "bot rollback" failed on later pages
so recent changes is a mess. I haven't deleted anything, so if people
want to see the pages, such as "copyviopedia" this person created they
can still do so.
As far as I am aware Sonja Kisa, the creator of the language, has
released it under the GFDL, but I can't find any mailing list evidence
to back this up.
If this is not the case, the wiki should obviously be removed but
vandalizing hundreds of pages is not the way to go about this. I
suggest we wait to hear from Sonja on the status of the copyright and
remove it she can not confirm it is GFDL.

I think the point Jens Ropers was making is that your age and
inexperience should mitigate the impropriety of your actions.
I would recommend learning two new skills that will make your work with
other wikipedians more rewarding and successful. 1) wait a day before
posting a reply, and 2) always approach other people's posts with an
attitude that says "I understand you have something valuable to say, and
I'm sure I could learn a lot from you." If you do these two things,
I'll bet you'll find that people are much more open to what you have to
say.
Another funny thing about resistance is that the more you push the more
people resist. This cycle can keep going for a long time, but it
requires that both sides keep pushing. If you stop fighting and work on
some problems that both of you care about, you will often find that
resistance melts away.

Dear Mark,
Since you've continued to reply to the whole list, I want to offer you one
final, simple piece of advice here:
Acknowledge that you made a mistake, apologize, say you won't do it again,
and don't explain further why you felt it was justified.
I think that all of us would be happy to see this matter drop and all move
forward in a positive manner, and your taking those actions will most
certainly achieve that.
Sincerely,
Brian (Bcorr)

Ultimately I don't think there is any way we can or should control the
information in Wikipedia in such a way that it would be acceptable to the
security services of China, nor is there any way China with its unstable
political situation can tolerate the information contained in Wikipedia. I
am especially concerned that Wikipedia offers the temptation to people who
reside on the mainland to speak their mind which can result in crippling
consequences for themselves and their families.

as [[User:formulax]] mentioned in
http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l/2004-September/017409.html
The guy called [[User:Yaohua2000]] today upload a text file,
in which contains passwords of some users, to threaten us.
we deleted the file immediately.
but the situation seems very dangerous for us now,
one can steal the password of our users.
The flood vandalism in Zh: serveral months ago was took by [[User:Yaohua2000]].
This guy seems to be very clever but very evil also.
Some other users in Beijing had confirmed the ban, but I can still access wikimedia so far.
Some others in Shanghai and Nanjing reported they can access wikimedia also.
Experience from the last blockage in June, if the government decide to ban,
it will take several days to perform the ban in the whole nation.
will see whether or not.
As you probably all know, I get my subscription to this mailing list in
digest form. I shot off a reply last night after a few ales, and forgot to
cull out the "reply" part of the mail, resulting in me sending a whole
message digest to the whole list. It was a pretty silly thing to do, and I
do apologise if I annoyed anyone through my carelessness.

The news about blockage is not confirmed by other Wikipedians in Mainland China yet.
I still can access the whole Wikimedia projects now.
We'd better wait to see whether we are blocked or not.
