Yeah, we Kiwis Wikinewsies’s use google docs as well for when we do interviews; embargoed stories, and etc, works out easier than on wiki at times, which could be called sad I suppose…

 

I remember reading the other week on this list, about an internal wiki for this sort of stuff, perhaps it is time for us to seriously look at that as an idea? What do people think?

 

Personally, I think we get along all right with scoop@wikinewsie.org, but, if it comes down to it, I would support the list I suppose.

I'm guessing confidentiality is the purpose for such a list. I'm not sure, however, that private mailing lists are necessarily great things right now. I understand the need for some discretion as concerns certain stories, but even so, do you want *all* accredited reporters to have access to all of that confidential information? If the answer is "no", then perhaps continued back-channel communication is the best thing (and even that's regrettable on a news site where everything is supposed to be out in the open and everyone should be able to participate in any stage of article preparation he might wish).

As for mailing list, has there been a need for one yet? If there is, I
say why not. but if there isn't, one no need to go creating what could
be considered cabal this that without reason.
