Dear colleagues,

This is a free event open to all, organised in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh's Centre of Research Collections and SPLAS (Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies).

'Conectando' Wikipedia event - University of Edinburgh Library, 20 June
Scottish Encounters with Spanish & Portuguese

The exhibition's final pick of some 60 objects includes Galician bagpipes, Portuguese epic poetry, Catalan metaphysics, Spanish Civil War testimonies and Chilean solidarity through political song...

This free event includes:
  • a Guided Tour of the Conectando exhibition at the University of Edinburgh Main Library and
  • a Wikipedia editing event afterwards in the Digital Scholarship Centre upstairs to celebrate the many Scottish connections with the Spanish and Portuguese speaking worlds in art, literature, music, people and politics.

>From artists seeking inspiration, to musical instruments, to volunteers who fought in the Spanish Civil War, and Rolls-Royce workers in Scotland, who refused to work on Chilean Air Force parts from 1974-78 due to the atrocities carried out in Chile by the Pinochet dictatorship, join us to learn a new digital skill and help share these stories with the world; building understanding and solidarity.

Includes full training and refreshments. Book your place here.
