There must be an Occam's razor joke in here somewhere. 

The office seems to be angling for lightweight training events, but that is not what meetups have been, since long before there was a chapter. So WMUK would like to "multiply entities", but local organisers will do their own thing.

I have said my bit on pubs, contra a London meetup participant who clearly thought the Queen Vic was the model, rather than the nearest Wetherspoons.
