Warmest congratulations to Pavan on his new position.

And a big big hug to Tanveer!
Your exceptional dedication to supporting the South Asian community over the past few years has won our hearts. I must admit that your departure from the foundation has left a significant void in terms of specialized knowledge concerning the South Asian community. It is unlikely that the WMF will be able to promptly address this gap, and consequently, their support for us will be substantially affected. However, as an active South Asian wikimedian, I am super happy that you are with us, with a new role and renewed energy. We have optimistic expectations that you will continue to serve the South Asian community with an even greater impact in your new role.

Jayantilal ji, I have been eagerly following your recent conversations, and I want to express my appreciation for your boldness in raising concerns. Your words have captured our attention, and we extend our gratitude for your candidness. When reading your conversations, I assume good faith and humbly request that you do the same while responding to others. I desire not to hold this belief, but I am afraid that you may have become entrenched in the pitfall of en:Confirmation bias. These biases can be difficult to detect and recover from if we limit our perspectives and inadvertently reject alternative viewpoints from others. I fear (and I hope that it's not the case) that you perhaps first decided that "CIS is not good" and then "search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms or supports <del>one's</del> your prior beliefs or values." (directly quoted from en:Confirmation bias)
Perhaps this affected your prior arguments as well.
If that is indeed the situation, I kindly request that you reconsider your approach from the beginning and ensure it aligns with the values upheld by the Wikimedia movement.
Raising concerns is not bad, but we together need to find a solution while keeping space for everyone in the discussion in a healthy way.

Salam, Namaste,
Rafi

Thank You Pawana for replying!

Budget is on Google sheet and not Meta so I missed it. Administrative expense is too much and can you explain what it is? Will this budget cover infrastructure scholarships also? So many community members require a laptop and tablet to do wiki work. Will you put a breakup for how much money will be spent on it.

One email came on 31st July 2022 for Program Manager. Do you mean that announcement? This was like very long time back.

Dear Wikimedians,

On behalf of A2K, I would like to provide some updates about our ongoing activities and team composition.

We would like to inform you that the Mula Mutha Nadi Darshan 2023 campaign is currently underway and will continue until the end of June. This campaign aims to document the Mula and Mutha rivers, along with their tributaries in the Pune district, on Wikimedia Commons through images and videos contributed by active citizens. A2K is collaborating with the Pune River Revival group of active citizens & civil society organisations. Jeevitnadi and the Ecological Society are leading the campaign. If you are interested in participating, please join us at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Mula_Mutha_Nadi_Darshan_2023

In other news, the annual proposal of A2K is currently under review by the South Asia Regional Grants Committee. You can find the proposal here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Centre_for_Internet_and_Society%27s_annual_work_plan_for_2023-2024.

Regarding our program, I would like to update you that CIS-A2K is currently conducting a structural review of the support we provide to communities through our request page, due to regulatory and organizational concerns. As a result, we have to temporarily pause the support through the request page until further notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

We have some updates regarding our team. Pavan Santhosh has recently joined CIS-A2K as the Program Manager, where he will closely collaborate with Indian language Wikimedia communities. Pavan is an experienced Wikipedian with a decade-long association with Indian language Wikimedia projects. Prior to joining CIS-A2K, he served as a Community Manager and Global Legal Support Specialist at Quora and previously worked as a Community Advocate in  A2K. Tanveer Hasan has joined CIS as our new Executive Director. Tanveer previously worked with A2K as the Program Manager from 2016-2018 and later held various roles at the Wikimedia Foundation, including Senior Program Manager for the Community Resources Team. We extend a warm welcome to both Pavan and Tanveer.

We are excited about the upcoming activities and collaborations with Indian Wikimedia communities.

Best Regards,

Subodh Kulkarni
