Hi fellow board members,

In the new year, our chapter will be asked to participate in a process to select two of ten board members of the Wikimedia Foundation, working with the other chapters and affiliates:

There has been some criticism of the non-public nature of some of the various international chapters' voting in the past, and I would suggest a local reform by us selecting the WMNYC candidates by a consensus discussion at a public meeting, probably during April WikiWednesday. 

We also have the opportunity to nominate any appropriate candidates to the global affiliates' election (candidates are not self-nominated, but are nominated by one of the affiliates).  These can be people from anywhere in the world.

BTW, this is the timeline, note that the period for comments on process ends this month, though the actual election is later:
