A reminder that the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Edit-a-thon is tomorrow, October 7th, 2014, at the Museum’s 1071 5th Ave, New York, NY 10128 address, 2-8pm.
Please enter at the entrance on 89th st. between Madison Ave and Museum Mile and check in at the security desk, where you will be directed to the Sackler Center and media labs.
This event was advertised with a special focus to METRO librarians and archivists, and educators, as well as to those interested in architecture and museum architecture, but is open to all.
We have many more people RSVP’d on Eventbrite, with 75 signed up (though I’m expecting many no-shows). If you plan to come, or may come, please RSVP on Eventbrite, as the entrance will be checking the RSVP list. GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM TO HOST OCTOBER WIKIPEDIA “GUGG-A-THON”
The Guggenheim Museum will host a Wikipedia “Gugg-a-thon” on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 2pm - 8pm, to support contributions to Wikipedia’s content on museum architecture.
Join us at the Guggenheim to add information about museum architecture to the world’s largest source of free knowledge during the fourth annual month-long Archtober festival.
Prior editing experience for Wikipedia is not required. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia editing. The training session will be held in the media lab at the museum and will focus on providing the tools needed to create and edit Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support throughout the event.
The program will also include welcoming remarks by Alan G. Brake, Executive Editor of The Architect's Newspaper, Cara Cragan, Director of Architectural Projects, Commissions (SRGM), and Amanda Parmer, curator and founder of PARMER. The talks will discuss the Guggenheim's role in the field of museum architecture, and give background on Wikipedia’s role as an institutional partner to the arts. The agenda also includes a free, backstage, architectural tour of the Guggenheim Museum, along with the.
Light refreshments will be provided. Registration strongly recommended. Remote participation encouraged. Stop by anytime throughout the scheduled hours.
