Hello Jillian,

The timing, 2:30 pm to 6 pm is good. I have updated the signup page with the information.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Atlanta/Atlanta_2

I will be bringing a laptop. I hope others will too. Do you have WiFi access at the library?

We do not have any meetups planned before November 19th. I will let you know about future meetups well in advance.

Thanks for your support.

Ganesh

Hello Ganesh,

November 19th sounds great.  The Reference floor conference room is available that day from 2:30 pm to closing at 6:00 pm.  We wish we could give you more time, but there is a group meeting in there beforehand.  If you want a longer session, we may be able to put you in the General Collections conference room on 3rd floor (which also has a pretty good reference collection and is one floor up from us).  We will arrange for a projector and screen for you.

Do all of you have laptops?  We have desktop computers available for you here, but none in the actual conference rooms.

A regular Wikimedians meetup at the library sounds fantastic.  If you guys can decide on dates when you would like to regularly meet and give us some advance notice, we can keep the conference room and projector reserved for you on those dates.  If you want to go ahead and schedule your next quarterly meeting before November 9th, we can announce the event on our website and in the library's magazine and distribute flyers.  Just let us know.  :)

Jill

Wikipedia Loves Libraries is a wiki-coordinated program of distributed
micro-conferences (editathons) to be held at libraries and archives in
cities across North America around *October 2011*.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Loves_Libraries

The advantages of the Wikipedia Loves Libraries model:

  - Easy to organize, even at small public libraries
  - Welcoming to everyone, Wikipedians, Librarians, and all library patrons
  - It's "the living reference section"
  - Also, it's fun!

Is there any interest in meeting up for this event in the Metro Atlanta
area? We have a month to plan this event. October 22 is a tentative date.

Best regards,

Ganesh

Dear Wikimedians:

The Wikimedia technical community often has important meetings in
Europe, which isn't so great for North Americans.  So I want to
specifically invite interested Georgia Wikimedians to the Wikimedia and
MediaWiki hackathon happening 14-16 October in New Orleans, Louisiana.

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/NOLA_Hackathon

We're getting together a wide variety of contributors -- including
template, script, tool, extension, and gadget writers -- to participate,
give feedback, test, and hack with us.

At the event, MediaWiki developers and Wikimedia operations engineers
will be working on Wikimedia's gadgets/extensions/tools support,
authorization/authentication strategy, dev-ops virtualization, and
general training and hacking. And we'll improve and discuss the
Wikimedia Labs projects infrastructure and other stuff that makes it
easier for anyone to supercharge Wikimedia with awesomeness.

The event is open to anyone who wants to come and contribute, and is an
opportunity to spend time with senior MediaWiki developers & ops
engineers, write beautiful code, and learn about the latest
developments. We'll write code together, discuss the software, and hold
little workshops.

If you can make it to New Orleans on 14-16 October 2011, we'd love to
have you. Please add your name to the attendees list:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/NOLA_Hackathon#Attendees

(And please spread the word!)

Thanks and best wishes.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to let you know about a survey that I am running for female
contributors to any Wikimedia project. It is being ran by me as an
independent volunteer, *not* on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dDR3a3JfaTd0aVBiMW1xd2phNXE2R3c6MQ#gid=0

If you are a female contributor and you are comfortable working in English,
please participate, and if you know any female contributors, please share it
with them.

Thanks so much!

Hello Wikimedians,

I'm Jill with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System (AFPLS).  We thought the Wikipedia Loves Libraries program was a nifty idea and saw this meetup group listed on the Meetup/Atlanta site .  We were wondering if you guys are still meeting.  If so, we wanted to know if you would be interested in meeting regularly at the AFPLS Central Library.  We could provide a conference room on the Reference floor for you, and a projector if needed.  You would have easy access to reference materials, library databases, and a librarian if you had any questions.

Hi Jill,

That will be perfect. We were looking for a location to meet regularly. We
have not had our Wikipedia Loves Libraries event yet. I will setup a page
for the event and send out an invitation. It would be great if we had a
projector available.

Thank you very much for your interest.

All,

We have the support of the Altanta Fulton Library System to conduct our
meetups (Thanks Jill). I have tentatively scheduled the next meetup for
November 19, 2011 as part of the Wikipedia Loves Libraries celebration.
Please sign up at the following page,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Atlanta/Atlanta_2

We can go over basic editing tutorials if we have a projector available. I
hope to see you all at the meetup.

Best regards,

Ganesh
