Hi everybody,

I’ve just learned that Wikimedia Affiliates have a somewhat odd but important role in the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees elections [1]. These elections, to be held this August, will select two community-and-affiliate candidates to serve on the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees [2]. An “Analysis Committee” will be convened to rate all ten candidate as Gold, Silver or Bronze in July [3]. The top six candidates will then go to a public vote in August. The Analysis Committee will consist of nine committee members, with one person representing several thematic and regional groupings [4].

As a member of the North American regional grouping [5], the Wikimedians of Colorado User Group has the right to work with the other North American affiliates to choose a single representative to serve on the Analysis Committee. How? That remains to be seen. But if you’d like to help out — and possibly go on to represent us all in the Analysis Committee — please add yourself to the list at [5]. I have absolutely no idea what this might entail, but it seems useful to start a discussion on the talk page [6] and see what we can do to help.

Cheers,
Gaurav
