Greetings Program Leaders and Evaluators!
Important updates from Learning and Evaluation:
== New Intern in the team: Amanda Bittaker ==
Amanda Bittaker joins the team as second Learning and Evaluation Fellow
dedicated to helping with the current round of evaluation reports for
popular Wikimedia outreach programs. Her experience includes both
qualitative and quantitative data use for impact analysis. As a proponent
of the open knowledge movement, Amanda is excited to help our team to mine,
clean, validate, analyze, and report on a set of 10 programs in this second
round of programs reporting [1]. Please join us in welcoming her aboard!
You can email her personally at abittaker(a)wikimedia.org
== Open call for Grant Advisory Committee ==
The Grant Advisory Committee (GAC) is a group of community volunteers who
are explicitly invited to review and evaluate grant proposals made in the
Project and Event Grants Program [2]. Their input is highly appreciated in
the discussion and review process that leads to funding decisions. Deadline
for signing up for this round is December 30, 2014. New members will be
inducted by the middle of January 2015 [3].
== New blogpost: How to get Wikimedia Foundation to fund your international
gathering [4] ==
Every now and then, wikimedians cross borders and they celebrate
international gatherings. Why are these meetings important? How can
organizers get expert and economic support? In this blogpost [4], we go
over the planning, proposal and evaluation stages of these events. Read,
comment and share!
== Infographics and the visual display of information: now on video [5] ==
The learning series “Telling your program story” celebrated the second
session on November 12. If you missed the event, you can watch the video of
the virtual meeting online! [5]. The series ends on December 10, with the
last virtual event: “Framing your measures to tell the story you want”. The
resources generated in these virtual events are building up a new page on
the Evaluation portal, for everyone to consult in their timely manner [6].
As always, stay up-to-date by connecting on our portal [7].
On behalf of the Program Evaluation and Design team, thank you for your
time and attention.
