Also, as you probably know, there are 2 sirens within a minutes gap that go off on the morning of 30 Jan every year (yes, I heard it this morning and remembered). This is the 2 minute silence supposed to be maintained in honour of the father of the nation on his death anniversary. Just after independence, people used to strictly follow this, to the extent that people would stop their cars in the middle of the road, get out and stand in silence. However, hardly anyone follows this today. I cant find a citation for this - can anyone please chip in?
