Theodosia Okoh has no Facebook page RB, but the media have reports on her and she has online presence that way. Wikipedia is really not interested in your social media presence.

Gasmilla is more prominent to a child running around somewhere in Jamestown than Michael Jackson will ever be. But the Westerners will see MJ differently. Notability is very subjective. Let's tread carefully so we don't defeat the purpose of our group.

Oral I am equally interested in articles that exist and those that are yet to be created. Let's allow Gasmilla onto the wiki and let other more experienced Wikipedians decide if he should be there or not.

We shouldn't wait for him to scoop a local award or BET before we scurry to create one for him.

Anyone else?

Anyone else?

Sandister Tei

Raphael makes a very salient point and I think we're at that place where individuals/ideas/places/events already have their web presence/representation thanks to the advent of social media (Facebook/Google+/LinkedIn/etc).

One importance for wikiGH must thus be to get members more interested/involved in updating already existing pages of Ghana related contents on the wikis since there's a ton of them that newbies could practice on as a way of enhancing their skills and scoring points for meritocracy.

I am always available to proof materials prior to posting or in meta stages whenever the opportunity allows me to, knowing my crazy schedules. That said, new and exciting articles are always welcomed so long as they're well written, not sensational and have a lot of credence to both local/international audience on Wikipedia/Wikimedia.

You will hear from me every once in a while but I believe with thinktanks like Sandister, Nii, Rexford and Raphael among others, the future of wikiGH is bright and I foresee a chapter forming even before my next trip to Ghana.

PS: Sandister if u make it to wikimania London, let the aporrr kronkron flooooww!

Hello team I have some reservations. I think as we go on as a group and grow we need to set some parameters. One of these should be which personality group, entity, place etc merits a page on wikipedia. I am saying so because wikipedia is an encyclopedia and one of its tenets is the notability of people or stuffs that are featured.Sincerely I think is not every personality, place or group  that deserves a page other than that Wikipedia will lose its relevance and we 'll wake up one day to find almost every individual with a page.

So a team member wants to create an article for Gasmilla (Azonto artiste). I don't know if it has anything to do with me talking  Gasmilla about it sometime back, but now they are interested.

I have asked the team member to write to our mailing list. This is how I suggest for it to be approached: None of us is going to write the article for them, but the rep himself should do it with our guidance/cheat sheet. I believe the reasons why I suggest this is clear ... but I am open to questions about that. Let's await his email then.

Also as the grant report is progressing, I am going to be in contact with Asaf to organise the "Train the Trainer" plans we have.

I will update you if I do make it to London in October.
