Hello,

"Less Talk, More Action" - via GhanaThink Foundation.

Thanks Masssly for the links and am very excited to see Raph create new articles at such speed :). Keep it up and be on track as required by WP policies.

Yes it is good to create new articles, people like myself have stopped creating new articles temporarily not because I don't have time.

The questions is How many featured or good articles have I / we produced? 2 year old Stubs can't be featured as they're still in stub state!

Unwinding? Yes, it's crystal clear. If 2 or 3 are active doesn't mean we're.

What even motivates someone to edit?
For me am yet to find out what keeps me going. But surely there is something :)

It's good to do a survey. Let's give it shot then.

Best,

Looking through the articles and the newly created ones, its amazing the amount rberchie creates.

Under who's auspices? I think it's up to any/all of us to come up with the insights.

In terms of editing, the community is unwinding. I guess there are peak times for everyone in terms of editing. But currently, Raphael nails it so well and I'm impressed. The rest of us, where are we?

Perhaps less talking and less mentoring might not be necessary. What is important is upping our edits across board of the members whiles we keep inviting many out there to contribute to wikipedia. One never knows who was born a Wikipedian out there.

I think we also need to reform who we target in terms of looking for long term editors. Who are likely to be long term editors? University Graduates like Raphael, Researchers like yourself? What even motivates someone to edit? Who and where should be our target audience?

And from the look of the stats from the new articles creation, is there any contributor from within the list that's a recruit from a recent program in the last year or two?

Remember we even talked of a survey to know what really keeps editors editing? Perhaps that can also give us more insight.

Hello guys,

Mr.Z-bot is now able to rank the most popular pages by number of views (per month) that fall in the scope of WikiProject Ghana. Some might be surprise as to how some of our articles have turned out. See Dumsor at #36 and Haruna Iddrisu all the way down to #940.

Thinking aloud!
Meanwhile these are essential information we can mine to understand what people are actually searching for on Wikipedia about Ghana, who are improving/creating those content and how to improve the high impact pages. For example the New articles tool I presented the last time suggests that the combined efforts of the entire Usergroup is nowhere near the amount of new content [[User:Rberchie]] creates in a week. At the moment I don't know under who’s auspices it is to evaluate such insights? and come out with recommendations so we can move forward. Its no secret that the community is gradually unwinding and IMO I think this is quite appalling.

We really need to sit up, maybe less talk, less mentoring and more editing on our part can turn things around.

We now have a bot that automatically discovers newly created cat:Ghana articles.
catscan2 went down some months ago.

Maybe this might be useful to someone here too?
