Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun! Would it work better the other way round - Smithsonian staff set out a range of dates they can be in each place, then local Wikimedians sign up to meet them?

Hi Wikimedia Asia chapters and usergroups,

I wanted to share with you details of the upcoming Smithsonian Asian American editathon campaign for September 2015, which is also being joined by Wikimedia Thailand and hopefully others in Asia (following a discussion at Wikimania):

The Smithsonian folks have a pretty significant publicity effort they can put out, and I think the Smithsonian is a well-known name globally (and also Museum of Modern Art in NYC too), so it would be great if we could promote participation among the different members of the Wikimedia Asia Project as well.

The Smithsonian people plan to hold events at museums in about 5-10 US cities (and also has ties to art spaces in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, etc), so pairing that with international events could be mutually beneficial (as we did with the Art+Feminism campaign).

If your chapter or usergroup is interested , we'd be very glad to put you in touch with the Smithsonian folks who can share their own contacts in these cities.

Thanks,
Pharos
