I noticed that the the current Wiki.J.Sci main page has a button for subscribing to the general WikiJournal mailing list. I know Wiki.J.Med additionally has a public google group. 

(I don't really know much about how mailing lists work)!

Is there any difference between the functionality of google groups vs wikimedia lists? (I don't really know much about mailing lists)! Would it be best to use just one platform for simplicity?
