People who are offended: Unfortunately, not everyone understands how what
they say may be offensive to others. They mean well, even if it's not
obvious.
People who aren't offended: People -do- get offended when you make allusions
to a government that massacred millions of people.
Guess we better not talk about the Soviets, Chinese, Americans,
Catholics, Romans, Ottomans, Burmese....
My attitude is that people shouldn't get upset on someone else's
behalf. It's fair to take umbrage if you're being insulted, but you
don't need to jump into a discussion just to turn up the heat.
