It wouldn't be a good thing if we make it much
more complex, nobody would
do it, and we'd have a maintenance nightmare.
References are already too complex, probably. Personally I just add a <ref>
tag with as much detail as I can come up with, and let someone else worry
about formatting it. That seems reasonable.
