I think the
standard on user names should be:
"Anyone can call themselves anything, until and
unless several people
say that it offends them."
By that standard, TMC had to be changed. But JisL
has only 1.5 objectors
so far: one says they're offended (after I
SOUGHT
a list of offended
people), and the other says they slightly or
mildly offended. That's no
consensus.
Much ado about nothing.
It's more like 19 favor a name change, IIRC.
So yes, there is a consensus (unless you twist
things by only counting
people who you think are truly offended).

Most of those people only thought that others would be
offended. I don't think that if a critical mass of
people think that others will be offfended by the
username, that that user should have to change names.
I guess that's kinda what happened to me, but it was
consentual on my part, and you weren't considering
banning me if I didn't change. Did anyone ask these
people if they'd switch usernames?
