Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding the Wiki Page ID. Does it always
stay unique for the page, where the page itself is just a placeholder for
any kind of information that might change over time?
Consider the following cases:
1. The first time someone creates page "Moon" it is assigned ID=1. If at
some point the page is renamed to "The_Moon", the ID=1 remains intact. Is
this correct?
2. What if we have page "Moon" with ID=1. Someone creates a second-page
"The_Moon" with ID=2. Is it possible that page "Moon" is transformed into a
redirect? Then, "Moon" would be redirecting to page "The_Moon"?
3. Is it possible for page "Moon" to become a category "Category:Moon" with
the same ID=1?
Thanks,
Gintas
Hello everyone,
I'd like to ask if Wikidata could please offer a HDT [1] dump along with the already available Turtle dump [2]. HDT is a binary format to store RDF data, which is pretty useful because it can be queried from command line, it can be used as a Jena/Fuseki source, and it also uses orders-of-magnitude less space to store the same data. The problem is that it's very impractical to generate a HDT, because the current implementation requires a lot of RAM processing to convert a file. For Wikidata it will probably require a machine with 100-200GB of RAM. This is unfeasible for me because I don't have such a machine, but if you guys have one to share, I can help setup the rdf2hdt software required to convert Wikidata Turtle to HDT.
Thank you.

If one knows the Q code (or URI) for an entity on Wikidata, how can one find the Dbpedia Id and the information linked to it?
Thank you.

Hi all,
The new version of the "Linked Open data Cloud" graph
<http://lod-cloud.net/> is out ... and still no Wikidata in it. According
to this Twitter discussion
<https://twitter.com/AmrapaliZ/status/990927835400474626>, this would be
due to a lack of metadata on Wikidata. No way to fix that easily? The LOD
cloud is cited in many scientific papers, it is not a simple gadget.
Cheers,
Ettore Rizza
Hi Scott,
One way to do that would be to get the language code label list from WDQS
with this:
http://tinyurl.com/y9p7q9l2
SELECT ?label WHERE {?s wdt:P424 ?code; rdfs:label ?label filter
(lang(?label) = "en").}
and then stream the list to LDF client [1] requests
https://tinyurl.com/ycc3dyce
ldf-client https://query.wikidata.org/bigdata/ldfhttp://fragments.dbpedia.org/2015-10/en "SELECT * WHERE {?s rdfs:label "+
language + "@en . ?s owl:sameAs ?link }"
The results would be in JSON from the client. It should give a relatively
complete list of WIkidata language code entity corresponding resources in
DBpedia
Also, an simple way to get a dbpedia resource with TPF is with the entity
label which is one of the properties that is the same for both datasets.
So,
SELECT * WHERE {
?s rdfs:label "German"@en .
}
will return the matching dbpedia and wikidata resources for that label.
This could also perhaps be done with a federated query in WDQS.(untested).

Hello everyone.
Interested in supporting small and minority language Wikipedias?
Developing Wikidata and tools in your language? or using Wikipedia as an
educational tool to promote the use of your language? Well, these are
just some of the themes we will explore at the Celtic Knot 2018
Wikipedia languages conference in Wales.
*Tickets are now on sale and we are inviting applications for travel
scholarships* <https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Celtic_Knot_Conference_2018>
Please spread the word and help us make the conference a success!
Thanks!

Track==========================================The industry track seeks to
present the state of adoption of semantic technologies in industrial
settings. Semantics is used in applications in many industries, including
media, financials, telecommunications, healthcare, life sciences,
government, intelligence, smart cities, and cultural heritage. It enables
applications capabilities as varied as business intelligence, analytics,
search, content management, knowledge management, recommendation systems,
information extraction and data integration. We encourage results and ideas
from companies large and small. We welcome contributions about success
stories as well as experience reports and discussions of obstacles that
stand in the way of large-scale adoption of semantic technologies.Detailed

Poster and Demos==========================================The ISWC 2018
Posters and Demonstrations complement the paper tracks of the conference
and offer an opportunity for presenting late-breaking research results,
on-going research projects, and speculative or innovative work in progress.
The informal setting of the Posters and Demonstrations encourages
presenters and participants to engage in discussions about the work. Such
discussions can be invaluable inputs for the future work of the presenters,
while offering participants an effective way to broaden their knowledge of
the emerging research trends and to network with other researchers. We
invite submissions relevant to the area of the Semantic Web and which
address, but are not limited to, the topics of the Research Track; the
In-Use Track; and the Resource Track. Technical posters, reports on
Semantic Web software systems (free or commercial), descriptions of
completed work, and work in progress are all welcome. Demonstrations are
intended to showcase innovative Semantic Web related implementations and
technologies, both in academia and in industry.Detailed info:

Track==========================================The Outrageous Ideas track
is back to ISWC! Similarly, as in 2011, this track is sponsored by the
prestigious CCC Blue Sky ideas and solicits visionary ideas, long term
challenges, and opportunities in the semantic web research that are outside
of the current topics in the field and are not mature or specific enough to
be accepted in the regular research track. The contributions should find
the right arguments to convince that the proposed topic is promising and
should relate the talk as much as possible to the existing literature from
relevant fields, possibly also fields outside the Semantic Web
Community.Detailed info:

Hello all,
*(sorry for crost-list posting)*
Every year since Wikidata went live, on October 29th, 2012, the Wikidata
community celebrates its anniversary all around the world. Local groups
organize meetups, workshops, share cake and greetings, to celebrate the
work of the editors building up the knowledge base and its ecosystem of
tools.
Last year, for the 5th birthday, the WikidataCon
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikidataCon_2017/Documentation>,
first international conference dedicated to Wikidata was organized in
Berlin. Waiting for its return in 2019, the local events continue! We
encourage the community to meet up, the chapters and user groups to
organize events in order to build a Wikidata group in their area. Even if
you're just starting editing, or you've never been organizing an event
before, you can be part of the Wikidata's sixth birthday!
The events will take place around October 29th, 2018 (it doesn't have to be
on this exact day). You can find a lot of information on this page:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Sixth_Birthday
You will find the list of events that will take place around the world,
ideas of formats, ways to get funded, and documentation about organizing
events.
We're excited to see many small or big Wikidata events happening everywhere!
If you have any question or need help, feel free to contact me.
Cheers,
