Ah, clicking on the chicken. It should take you to the magazine, then you  can start with the right arrow. Let me know if that doesn’t work. This site has been plagued with difficulties that usually get ironed out, but I may have to ask my editor for help.....

Love,
A

The home page has a chicken but no buttons that say "My
editions."

Hm. First, THANK you for getting it, Doc. Now, how to help you.

When you log in, you should see on the home page at the top right a button that says “My Editions.” Clicking that will take you to a thumbnail cover of Real Eats. Clicking that should take you to the current issue. To turn the pages, you use the right or left arrows on your keyboard. That works faster than clicking on a story title in the TOC, because “they” want you to read it like a magazine.

For some exasperating reason, the Table of Contents doesn’t list bylines or slugs, such as Eatiquette. But my column is always toward the end (the magazine’s not very long). On the actual page it does say Eatiquette and my name. This week’s column is called Ladling Out Love (not my title). It’s a little uncharacteristic of the others, but you can find those others in the archive in the menu on the bottom left of the screen. I have really made playtime out of those.

Let me know if you continue to have trouble!

Hope to see you first week of April, as I mentioned. Will let you know when I have secured a car.

 Much love,
 Alice

Guess you will have to guide me through the process.  I registered for a free trial.  But received nothing that guided me to your article(s).  Help.

  Dears,

I invite you to check out my weekly column called “Eatiquette” in Real Eats, an iPad/iPhone/Internet magazine that’s barely three months old. It’s from a company called Nomad Editions. Links are below, which will take you either to the magazine itself or to a page that will allow you to get a free trial subscription. Paid subscriptions start at $6 for three months, $24 per year, and will put soy-free fake bacon in my refrigerator if I ever decide to become a vegetarian again. LEt me know if you have trouble getting the mag.

My column this week is an answer to a question from someone who wants to but is afraid to volunteer in a soup kitchen. If you choose to check it out, you’ll find a menu at the bottom that will take you to the archive of all the issues so far, and all my columns—answering questions about cell phones at dinner, surprise vegetarian guests and surprised hosts, screaming children in restaurants, takeout food at dinner parties, tipping in bars, talking politics at the dinner table, drinks that will make nondrinkers not feel exposed if they don’t want to, guests helping out in the kitchen, spoon problems, etc. I have been having a LOT of fun with this, and I think it shows. I hope you will have some fun with them too, if you have time.

Whew, promotion is supposed to be snappier and briefer. I know you forgive me, and I thank you!

  Love,
  Alice
