Great, maybe I'll get back to you when the video project actually has some videos to show. That'll be several months from now, but it's good to know that this domain is out there. I'm glad to hear that the site is under active development. Thanks for working on it.

@Jeremy I believe that thread was mentioned in the phab discussion

@Pine I'm unsure of what you're asking? You're obviously more than welcome to help out/use the site in any way. I wouldn't say no one is working on it, I have just spent the last two days developing and designing it myself on my own hosting and after purchasing the domain name. All I'd like to see is it be used and ultimately help the Wikimedia Foundation and her projects :)

Samuel, if this turns out to be "one of those nice ideas that isn't going anywhere just because no one is working on it", would you mind if I took over management of it as a part of my IEG project? I might also be able to get others involved who are already interested in the video project, like Anna Koval (cc'd here); we'll need a place to feature the videos anyway, and if that site is available, maybe we could use it if that's ok with you?

@Heather - no worries! By the time you have a look at the site again, it should look complete. The back-end runs on GitHub which means anyone can propose changes, which we thought was in keeping with the Wikimedia 'ethic'.

@Pine - That would be great if you could! I'd like to see this being a bit of a staple (if I do say so myself!) in the "hmmm, Wikipedia/media seems like pretty awesome project, what can I do to help?" thought processes which I'm sure many of our users have at some point.

Oh my gosh, I love that domain name. I'm not sure who in WMF is in charge of "growth" these days but I'd like them to get involved. I don't even know where to start asking in the org chart. If someone in Comms (maybe Juliet?) can point me in the right direction I'll try to get this moving. This site might be something that I feature in the upcoming video series that I'm trying to put through IEG.

Hi Sam,

This is an interesting idea. But the social media list usually moves pretty fast. It looks like the site is not finished. Would you mind coming back when it is ready?

Heather

Hi all,

After some discussion on phabricator, it was decided to create http://www.whatcanidoforwikimedia.org/ to help promote public contribution to the Wikimedia projects.

Obviously, a project such as this needs as much publicity as possible to get the ball rolling. Would it be possible to have a mention on the Wikimedia social media outlets?
