Dear Libraries UserGroup,
I hope you have already heard of this currently-open call for proposals to lead a "Space" [aka symposia] at Wikimania this year - see initial announcement below.
With one week to go in the call, we have so far received submissions on a variety of topic areas (see public summaries here):
https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2019:Program_design#Submitted_proposals_for_Spaces

However, as you'll note, there's nothing there that is related specifically to cultural partnerships, GLAM-wiki in general, nor Libraries specifically. Also, please note that U.G. Medicine, and U.G. Education have proposed to be the leaders of "spaces" on their respective topics. So, I thought it prudent to contact you directly to invite you to participate. If you were not sure if the Libraries U.G. (as a collective), or individuals within it, were welcome to make a proposal... please consider yourselves invited and welcome! I personally see a LOT of scope for a Wikimania space dedicated to issues at the intersection of Wikimedia, the SDGs, and Libraries. So I do hope that this important topic area is visible in the conference program!

Please contact me if you've any questions. Sincerely,
- Liam / Wittylama (program chair), cc'ing Eric Luth from WM-SE.

Hi all,

The Wikimania organizing team is now happy to announce the Program Design of Wikimania 2019!

We believe that this year’s conference theme requires a format that is future-oriented, collaborative, active, and focused on practical problem-solving. The program will therefore consist of a series of parallel spaces (or tracks), lead by leaders, and through practical training, learning, idea-sharing and cross-cultural collaboration focusing on different topic areas.

The call for proposals for these Leaders, and what they would like to do with those Spaces, is NOW OPEN. We invite you to visit the Program Design page on the Wikimania Wiki to read more.

Best,
Eric Luth
