Hello,
We are planning for the next year and are writing our FDC application. Is
Goal 1 already done or will it be done this year? The project page is a
little bit unclear on the project plan.

Hi,
First let me introduce myself: I'm David Haskiya (or
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:DivadH ) and the manager of the
GLAMwiki toolset project. I thought I'd send some brief information
about the status of the project and where we are at this point. From now
on we plan to send out these little updates once every sprint.
Our project started on September 1 and we are now in the middle of our
5th sprint of development. The first three sprints of the project were
very focused on setting up environments for development, testing and
beginning a discussion with the Wikimedia Foundation about the
production environment.
Some hypothesis on system architecture were tested and discarded and
we've now settled on running the project on Wikimedia Labs and are busy
developing the GLAMtoolset as a Mediawiki extension (a local
installation on Labs).
We're currently working with developing the workflow and initial simple
UI for doing batch uploads of GLAM datasets (in XML-format), mapping
the in-data to Commons templates (starting with Artwork) and then
uploading the metadata records and the media files they link to our
Mediawiki instance on Wikimedia Labs. You can check out a screencast
made by our Teach Lead Dan here:

os#Sprint_4
Another component of the project is to collate and collect requirements
from GLAMs on what kind of statistics and metrics they'd like to be able
to get about their datasets once uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. A lot of
information about that has already been gathered by others and we're
working that into the project. But we've also just sent out a survey to
GLAMs about their metrics needs that should give us more information and
to make sure we're not missing anything essential,

Please help spread the word about and link to the survey!
There's more information about the project and our progress on our
project website:

If you have any questions or input don't hesitate to send them- to this
list!
Cheers,
David
