Hi all,
We are seeing more translations of the microsite! This is great!
I wanted to please ask everyone who is working on the page: please don't remove links or change the information. We can add a list with lesson plans in other languages, but please don't delete existing language versions of the lesson plans. We need to make language versions as visible as possible for educators from all over the world, which goes beyond switching languages on the language bar.

Thanks for your great support in this!

Best,

María

Hi Collab members!

We're running a bit late in translating the campaign into Swedish but getting there. I'm looking for the google docs with lession plan "Creating and editing content" https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Creating%26_Editing_Content_Lesson_Plans.pdf Or is it that I'm completely blind??

All the best,
Sara

Hi all!

We're kicking off the Eduwiki/WikiTeachIn campaign today - in Czech we call it "Uč(s)Wiki" - "Teach (with) Wiki" but we tweet with hashtag #EduWiki too. We have a joint press release with EduIN, a Czech NGO which supports open education. And we're holding a press conference in a few minutes time. E-mail to gabriela.bokova@wikimedia.cz if you are interested in more - she's not on this list (she's a candidate for a collab member).

There is already an article about the programme in a leading Czech tabloid :-)

I hope other countries are joining too! This is a great way to let teachers and their pupils about Wikipedia! After all, most Wikipedians become Wikipedians when they are at secondary schools.

best,

Dear Collab members,

Happy almost September! We are pleased to report that we are almost ready to proceed with the opening of the education campaign in the first week of September.

For next steps, the campaign microsite that we have constructed has content that needs to be translated. If you are looking forward to joining the campaign, we would like to kindly ask you to translate the content of the website to the language used in your WEP, so we can help engage as many teachers as possible. This includes the main campaign page, and the subpages for registration, Lesson Plans and FAQ. We have created a category on Commons to group the lesson plans PDFs:

Please note that WMF Education Program team will not be responsible for implementing the campaign in your respective country, but we will help provide support in any areas you need. This means that each Collab member who wants to be part of this campaign, has to promote the campaign in their own context. This could include sharing the campaign on your affiliate social media channels, creating a site notice banner for your language version Wikipedia (if you choose to do so!), sharing broadly among your network of educators, and any other means of collaboration you think could be useful (for example, guest posting in an education blog, or working to get local media coverage).

We have included a sign-up page, for educators to sign on-wiki and also via a form that we are finalizing. We have also created a short survey to collect feedback on the campaign, which will help the collab follow up after the campaign has ended. You can review the draft surveys here.

Thank you very much for your help and feedback. It is much appreciated, and I look forward to working together to show the world that Wikipedia belongs in the classroom.

Best,

Loreen
