Wikimedia Hackathon May 20-22: Info about helper roles and how to create interactive sessions

As promised, a few more updates: We are looking for people to help us run an awesome and smooth event! [Cloud-announce] Brief NFS outages thursday, 15:00 UTC

We need to perform very brief maintenance on the servers that support the DUMPS and TOOLS NFS mounts. That means that (among other things) toolforge will be almost entirely broken for about 5 minutes. I expect a graceful recovery, but in the worst case I may need to reboot toolforge hosts (including the bastions), in which case some jobs will be interrupted. Wikimedia Hackathon May 20-22: Info about the online space, local meetups and more

Hi all, The Wikimedia Hackathon <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2022> is coming up in two weeks, on May 20-22. The Hackathon is an event by and for technical contributors from around the world. It’s a space to work together on technical projects, learn new skills, and meet others in the technical community. Newcomers are welcome <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2022/How_to/Newcomers>! A few updates: The main event will happen in an online game-style space <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2022/How_to#Joining_the_…>, supported by local meetups <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2022/Meetups> organized by community members around the world. Instructions on how to enter the online space will be published shortly before the start of the hackathon. [Cloud-announce] Toolforge Kubernetes upgrade on 2022-05-11

Hi all, We'll be upgrading the Toolforge Kubernetes cluster next Wednesday (2022-05-11) starting at 16:00 UTC. As with previous updates, the expected impact is that web services and Toolforge Jobs Framework jobs may get restarted a couple of the times over the course of the few hours it takes for us to upgrade the entire cluster. OAuth oddity: space missing in username

I've got a mysterious problem with OAuth accessing https://spi-tools-dev.toolforge.org/. I have a new feature in beta test, which I'm gating by whitelisting the usernames of my testers. User:Girth Summit <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Girth_Summit> reported being unable to access the feature, and the problem turned out to be that he's apparently being authenticated as "GirthSummit" (no space). As far as I can tell, that's not a valid username <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/GirthSummit>, yet it's what I'm getting back from my django/social-auth authentication flow. Anybody have any idea what might be going on? I have three whitelisted users; he's the only one with a space in their username.
